The Avenue of Flags - Burial and Flags

Through the nonprofit Avenue of Flags Foundation, you can now commemorate the life of loved ones in a unique and patriotic way through cremation and memorialization on the historic Avenue of Flags in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Burying a loved one's cremains beneath one of the 444 symbols of freedom is a wonderful way to recognize the accomplishments of their life, and gives his or her family and friends a permanent place to memorialize them. Cremains can be shipped in from anywhere in the world for burial with or without a memorial service.

In addition to the burial of cremations, the Foundation offers several different types of memorials that provide a fitting tribute to loved ones:

  listings on the bronze tablets in Hillcrest Memorial Park
  cyberspace memorials of biographical information on the Internet
  flags flown on the Avenue of Flags in memory of loved ones

Each of these memorials may be purchased separately or in conjunction with burial beneath the flags.

In keeping with the Avenue's mission of serving as a reminder of freedom and the price paid for it, Hillcrest will provide free of charge for burial of cremations of honorably discharged veterans if the decedent's family is unable to afford to bury them. In these instances, the cremains must be accompanied by Form D.D. 214 (Veteran's discharge papers).
